The Twin Mountain is steeped in legend and geological significance. According to local folklore, the mountains resemble the breasts of a fairy, symbolizing beauty and fertility. Long ago, a talented H'mong man with his musical skill on the mouth harp charmed a fairy named Hoa Dao, who descended to earth. Their love flourished, leading to the birth of a son. However, their happiness was short-lived as the Jade Emperor discovered Hoa Dao's descent to marry a human and ordered her return. Out of love for her child, Hoa Dao left her milk in the form of two perfectly round, symmetrical mountains before leaving. These mountains, known as Quan Ba Twin Mountain, are said to nourish the land, resulting in a lush, fertile region where flowers, fruits, and crops thrive. The fairy's tears formed the serene Miện River, embracing the landscape behind the legendary Heaven's Gate. This divine milk is believed to be the reason for the area's cool climate and abundant, fresh produce.
Geologically, the Twin Mountain is estimated to be around 1.6 to 2 million years old. It was formed by the movements of the Earth’s crust and the breaking of limestone blocks. This unique formation creates a striking contrast with the surrounding lush valleys and terraced fields.
